At Kelsey Park Sports College we have developed a curriculum that fully meets the learning needs of all our students at each key stage.
All students are tested when they arrive at the beginning of year 7 or at the time of entry should they join at a later date. This is so that we can place them in teaching groups that better reflect their levels of ability.
Boys who come to us in year 7 with key stage 2 assessment scores of 5 or higher can expect to be placed in our "fast track" programme which is aimed at providing a high level of pace and challenge.
Boys who come to us with key stage 2 levels of 3 or lower will work in our nurture group which moves at a slightly slower pace and provides a greater focus on the basic skills of literacy and numeracy.
Our flexible two year key stage three programmes of study have been carefully structured to provide each boy with a solid foundation of learning skills that will prepare him for future examination courses at key stage 4.
Students will be expected to study a wide range of subjects that include:
English
Mathematics
Science
Moral Education
Physical Education
ICT
Art
Design Technology
Drama
History
Geography
Modern Foreign Languages
Music
Decisions about exam courses are made by all students at the end of their year eight where a range of options are made available. The key stage 4 programme of study lasts for three years giving ample time to prepare for final examinations at the end of year 11.
All students will follow a core curriculum of:
